Daniel Badillo- Mano Negra Brewing Co.
Daniel approached the SBDC with the ambition of realizing his dream of opening a brewery with Puerto Rican influences, offering craft beers, homemade sangria, and artisanal sodas. With guidance from the SBDC, Daniel crafted a business plan and secured financing by selling his sodas at local farmer’s markets. As a nano-brewery, Mano Negra required minimal equipment compared to traditional breweries, which Daniel purchased after raising enough funds.
Continuing to work closely with the SBDC, Daniel navigated the process of obtaining necessary permits and registrations to legally operate his brewery. With their support, Mano Negra opened its doors and quickly garnered praise from customers as Lubbock's First Latino-Owned Nano-Brewery & Tap Room, specializing in artisanal beverages. The brewery has since expanded to include salsa lessons and dancing upstairs, bringing a taste of Puerto Rican culture to Lubbock, Texas, thanks to Daniel's vision and the assistance of the SBDC.
